Cooking with Love

Chef Stephen Harris doesn't let anything burn. Not only in the kitchen, but also when it comes to confrontations with his fellow human beings, the hothead with two Michelin stars likes to turn up the heat. So it's no wonder that busy TV producer Kelly is in a bad way when her children's cooking show "The Little Gourmet" gets Stephen as a last-minute replacement presenter. Two characters couldn't be more different. But just like in Michelin-starred cuisine, it's the same in love: two contrasting components tickle the taste buds in a whole new, exciting way. Romantic comedies like to be set in a culinary context. After all, love doesn't just go through the stomach. In the hustle and bustle of gourmet kitchens, you can also put your foot in your mouth. Jem Garrard's Canadian romcom is well aware of this, following in the light-footed footsteps of "Burnt" with Bradley Cooper as a quick-tempered star chef in restart mode or "Bella Martha". In Sandra Nettelbeck's film, Martina Gedeck plays a top chef who not only has the eight-year-old daughter of her deceased sister at her side, but also a new sous-chef, which throws her life into turmoil. "Cooking with Love", on the other hand, not only features a bickering couple-to-be, but also a cute bunch of young chefs, without degrading the setting from a Michelin-starred kitchen to a play kitchen.
