Sandra Hüller

Theatre and film star between extreme seriousness and daredevil unconditionality

Sandra Hüller, nominated for her performance in "Anatomy of a Case", shines in two Oscar® films this year - an immersion into her work. "Extreme seriousness and daring unconditionality are just as much a part of her play as her slightly mocking, friendly detached view of the world and the things she does. Her play becomes ever simpler in the process and the power and mystery behind it ever greater." So wrote the jury that awarded Sandra Hüller the Berlin Theatre Prize. This award is, of course, only one of many that the actress, who was born in 1978, has received for her outstanding stage art: in 2010, 2013, 2019 and 2020, the magazine "Theater heute" honoured her as Actress of the Year. Sandra Hüller has also shone time and again in the cinema: While she was still considered an insider tip after her stirring performance in the drama "Requiem" (2006), she also became a cinema star with "Toni Erdmann" at the latest. She also won awards for many other roles, such as in the films "Über uns das All", "Finsterworld" and "In den Gängen".
